Do I Only Write Stories?

When I started writing in 4thgrade, I was not good. It wasn’t that I sucked at it; It was how it was introduced to me. The teacher really didn’t like it, so her way of explaining it was to the best of her ability. Luckily, when 5thgrade came around, I was a beast. Every writing essay that I was given was returned to me with an A+ every time. Seeing that I was actually getting better and better each time gave me so much ambition to write more and more.

Later down the line, my classmates and I were introduced to poems. I fell in love with how versatile you could be with your writing. I was always trying to figure out what words would rhyme together. Until, one day my teacher told us that we could freestyle. I began studying about the different type of poems. Everywhere I went, from the park to the store, I would type lines in my phone to put together poems when I reached home. The way my mind would articulate very distinct descriptions of my thoughts, actions, or sceneries around me would help me in writing my poems.

Growing older I would write poems about a lot of things such as: teenage problems, family problems, love, pain, hard times, nature, fun times, etc. One thing I love about poems is that it takes your mind however far you are willing to go. I love finding me a quiet place to sit and just write from the heart. If you have a hard time expressing your feelings, I would highly recommend writing poems. You may find it very therapeutic; I know I do!
